Sinus elevation instruments are the blunt, smooth-edged elevators and curettes used to detach and lift the Schneiderian membrane from the sinus floor during lateral window and crestal sinus lift procedures. This collection holds the Helmut Zepf sinus lift instruments made in Germany: the Kirsch sinus elevator series #1–#8 in standard, "Small" and long-shank versions (No. 41.868.01–.08, 17.5 cm, ZEPF-Line titanium handles), the Dr. Shakibaie micro sinus elevators (No. 41.868.08M, 41.868.09), the Dr. Ho-Hi blunt sinus elevators on ZEPF-bIONIK QuickFix handles (No. 41.854.13, 41.854.23), the flexible ZEPF-Design sinus elevator/curette #2 (No. 47.847.11), and the double-ended sinus lift curettes (No. 41.846.60, 41.846.80, 41.848.01–.08).
All sinus elevators in the collection are made of German surgical stainless steel (or titanium-handled ZEPF-Line), are fully autoclavable, and are shaped with smooth, rounded edges to lift the membrane while preserving its integrity.

Clinical Use
These instruments are used for lateral window (external) sinus floor elevation, crestal (transcrestal) sinus lifts, membrane detachment and elevation, graft placement in the maxillary sinus, and augmentation of the atrophic maxilla. In a lateral-window lift the angled Kirsch elevators (#1–#6) are worked in sequence around the window to free the membrane, the blunt curettes lift it from the floor, the micro elevators handle the final delicate release, and the spoon/plugger ends (#7, #8, Shakibaie, gap plugger) carry and pack the graft material.
Care and Reconditioning
Sinus elevators are cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized between patients; QuickFix and M4x0.5 inserts are removed from their handles for reprocessing, and any working end that has been bent or nicked should be reconditioned before it is used on a membrane again. Our Dental Hand Instrument Reprocessing & Sterilization Guide covers the general workflow for Helmut Zepf instruments.
