Extra-long surgical burs — Busch’s FG-XL (25 mm overall) and RA-XL (34 mm overall) shanks — deliver maximum reach for oral surgery, third molar sectioning, subgingival and furcation work, and deep preparations where standard and 21/26 mm lengths fall short. The collection holds the figure 141 and 141A surgical round bone cutters in both shanks, the FG-XL crosscut round-end fissures 31RL and 33RL (US 557X, 558X, 701X–703X), and the FG-XLG ZIRAMANT zirconia diamonds (No. 6801LZ, 6838LZ, 8801LZ, 8838LZ).

Clinical Use

The 141 and 141A surgical rounds remove bone and section impacted third molars with the handpiece head well clear of the flap — FG-XL on the turbine, RA-XL on the contra-angle for the deepest sites; the 31RL/33RL crosscut round-end fissures (US 557X–703X) are the surgical-length versions of the familiar 557/558 and 701–703 for sectioning crowns and roots; and the ZIRAMANT round and cylinder diamonds in coarse (green ring) and fine (red ring) grits reach zirconia restorations and abutments in deep or posterior positions.

Care and Reconditioning

Extra-long burs are cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized between patients in a bur block, with the slender shank protected from bending; inspect for straightness before each use and discard any bur that has been bent or run against metal.
