Deutsche Dental Technologien stands behind every Helmut Zepf instrument we sell with one of two warranties, and behind every Busch & Co. rotary instrument with an arrival guarantee. This page sets out exactly what each covers, what it does not, and how to make a claim. It applies alongside our Refund Policy, which governs the separate 60-day return window.

Lifetime Warranty: Helmut Zepf dental extraction forceps

Every Helmut Zepf dental extraction forcep purchased from Deutsche Dental Technologien is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the instrument. If a forcep ever fails because of such a defect, we will repair it or replace it at no charge. This coverage is exclusive to the dental extraction forcep category and applies to the original purchaser.

1-Year Warranty: all other Helmut Zepf instruments

Every other Helmut Zepf instrument, from elevators and curettes to pliers, scissors, and surgical sets, is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of delivery. If the instrument fails because of such a defect within that year, we will repair it or replace it at no charge.

Busch & Co. rotary instruments

Busch burs, diamonds, cutters, and polishers are single-piece precision consumables and are guaranteed to arrive free of manufacturing defects. Inspect your order on receipt; if an instrument is defective, damaged, or not what you ordered, contact us within 7 days of delivery and we will replace it. Cutting instruments wear with use by design, so wear from normal operation is not a defect.

What the warranty covers

Failures caused by a defect in materials or workmanship under normal professional use.
Instruments reprocessed according to the manufacturer's validated instructions and the symbols on the packaging.
Repair or replacement, at our discretion, with the same model or the current comparable model. If neither is available, we will refund the purchase price.

What the warranty does not cover

Normal wear from use, including dulling of cutting edges and tips, cosmetic marks, and coating wear that does not affect function.
Damage from misuse, drops, over-loading, use outside the instrument's intended purpose, or use on materials it is not designed for.
Corrosion or damage caused by reprocessing outside the manufacturer's instructions, including exposure to chlorides, unsuitable disinfectants, or prolonged moisture.
Instruments that have been modified, or sharpened or repaired by anyone other than Deutsche Dental Technologien or Helmut Zepf. Our Sharpening & Repair service keeps your coverage intact.
Instruments purchased from anyone other than Deutsche Dental Technologien.

How to make a claim

Email sales@deutschedt.com with your order number, the Helmut Zepf item number, a short description of the failure, and one or two photos.
We respond within two business days. If the claim is accepted, we send a prepaid shipping label; instruments sent without an accepted claim cannot be processed.
On receipt we inspect the instrument and repair or replace it. Most claims are completed within 10 business days of receipt; repairs routed to Helmut Zepf in Germany take longer, and we will tell you the expected timing before we proceed.

Warranty and the 60-day return window

The warranty is separate from returns. Within 60 days of delivery, any Helmut Zepf instrument can be returned for a full refund for any reason, even if it has been used, under our Refund Policy. After that window, the warranty above applies for the rest of its term.
