Clinical Use

For a crown preparation, start bulk axial reduction with a super coarse (black ring) or coarse (green ring) 856, then refine the chamfer margin with the same figure in fine (red) or extra fine (yellow) grit; the 850 and 855 carry the same taper in other head sizes, the 38R carbide crown cutters section old crowns, and the 375R carbide finishers smooth the preparation.

Cool-Diamant figures cut with less heat, ZIRAMANT figures are made for zirconia, and the HP cutters, ceramic cutters, and Cera-Plus abrasives are laboratory instruments for acrylic, alloy, and ceramic.

Care and Reconditioning

Diamond and carbide taper rounds are cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized between patients in a bur block; a diamond whose grit no longer cuts freely, or a carbide with a chipped blade, is discarded rather than reused.
