The Strip Grip® strip holding tweezers by Helmut Zepf (No. 22.998.14), developed with Dr. H. Dietrich of Baden, Austria, turn an ordinary abrasive strip into a precisely controlled finishing instrument. A pair of tweezers clamps each end of the strip on diamond-coated gripping surfaces, so the strip can be tensioned, guided and drawn through the interproximal space exactly where it is needed — without kinking, slipping or losing its abrasive geometry.

Key Features

  • Diamond-coated gripping surfaces hold the strip securely without deforming it
  • Holds finishing and polishing strips 2.5 mm to 3.0 mm wide
  • Infinitely variable working length — the complete strip can be used
  • Slim, delicate tip geometry reaches narrow and posterior interproximal areas
  • Gold-anodized handle for immediate identification on the tray
  • Supplied as a pack of 2 tweezers — one for each end of the strip
  • Instrument number: 22.998.14

Clinical Applications

  • Finishing of adhesive restorations
  • Polishing of fillings
  • Firm and secure positioning of matrix bands
  • Separation of teeth
  • Finishing in the orthodontic field
  • Prophylaxis — removal of persistent interdental plaque
  • Adhesive veneer care and interproximal margin refinement

Why It Works

Interproximal finishing is one of the hardest areas in restorative dentistry to reach cleanly. Held by hand, a finishing strip bends where it is gripped, loses tension in the contact area and tends to wander subgingivally. Clamped between two Strip Grip® tweezers, the strip stays flat and under tension across the whole span, so the working section can be positioned in the supragingival area under the contact point without weakening the strip.

The result is precise guidance over the surface you actually intend to finish, less trauma to the papilla, and materially lower strip consumption — the entire length of the strip becomes usable rather than just the section your fingers can hold.

FAQ

What are Strip Grip tweezers used for? They hold abrasive finishing and polishing strips so the strip can be guided precisely through the interproximal space — for finishing adhesive restorations, polishing fillings, positioning matrix bands, separating teeth, orthodontic finishing and removing persistent interdental plaque.

What strip widths does it hold? Strips from 2.5 mm to 3.0 mm wide. Because the strip is clamped rather than bent, it can be used in the supragingival area under the contact point without being weakened.

Why are the tips diamond coated? The diamond-coated gripping surface holds the strip securely without deforming it, so the strip tracks exactly where it is guided and does not slip during finishing.

How many tweezers are in a pack? Each pack contains 2 tweezers — one for each end of the strip, which is how the instrument is used in practice.

Can the strip length be adjusted? Yes. The working length between the two tweezers is infinitely variable, and the full length of the strip can be used, which reduces material consumption.
