ZIRAMANT Zirconia Burs – Diamond Burs for Zirconia by Busch

The ZIRAMANT Zirconia Diamond Bur by Busch is a precision-engineered solution developed specifically for the efficient and accurate processing of zirconium oxide in the dental practice. Zirconia has become a dominant material in modern restorative dentistry thanks to its exceptional aesthetics, biocompatibility, and mechanical strength — yet its extreme hardness presents a persistent challenge during chairside adjustment and finishing. The ZIRAMANT Zirconia Diamond Bur addresses this directly through a stable, mixed diamond coating engineered exclusively for sintered zirconium oxide.

FAQ

What is the best bur for cutting zirconia crowns?

For sectioning or removing a sintered zirconia crown, use a coarse ZIRAMANT crown cutter, the 6880Z 014 (cylinder) or 6855Z 014 (taper), both FG with a green ring, with generous water spray and light pressure. For an access opening through a zirconia crown, the 6801Z trepanation burs are the purpose-built choice.

Can I adjust zirconia with a regular diamond bur?

Regular diamonds wear quickly on sintered zirconia and generate more heat. ZIRAMANT burs carry a diamond coating designed specifically for sintered zirconium oxide, so they keep cutting and reduce the risk of microcracks. Always repolish adjusted zirconia afterwards.

Should I use coarse or fine grit on zirconia?

Use coarse (green ring) ZIRAMANT burs for reduction and occlusal adjustment, then fine (red ring) burs such as the 8855Z, 8860Z or 8379Z for margin refinement and contouring, followed by a two-step zirconia polish.

What is the difference between FG, FG-LG and FG-XLG ZIRAMANT burs?

All three fit a high-speed (FG) handpiece. FG-LG has a longer shank and FG-XLG an extra-long, slender shank for deep or hard-to-reach areas such as interproximal and abutment corrections.
