Osteotome Wedge

Osteotome Wedge

The wedge osteotome is a chisel-type inter-implantory wedge for controlled bone splitting and ridge expansion between implants. Helmut Zepf makes it in four color-coded sizes (Nos. 47.099.31–47.099.34) with a matching wedge applicator (47.099.20) and the ring applicator and metal ring (47.099.25, 47.099.26) used with the 3D One Step Augmentation & Implantation system; every instrument on this page is made in Germany and ships from our US warehouse.

Optimize your bone management procedures with our specialized Osteotome Wedge collection. Engineered for dental implantology and oral maxillofacial surgery, these high-performance osteotome wedges deliver controlled, minimally invasive ridge expansion, inter-implant bone splitting, and precise crestal bone preparation.

Clinical Use

Wedge osteotomes are tapped into the crestal bone between implant sites to split and spread a narrow ridge for controlled, minimally invasive expansion and inter-implant bone splitting; the dual-diameter working ends (2 or 3 mm by 2.2 or 3.5 mm) and color codes let the surgeon step up in size. The applicator carries the wedge into position, and the ring applicator with its metal ring handles the Ø 5, 7, and 9 mm bone rings harvested with trephines in the 3D One Step Augmentation & Implantation system.

Care and Reconditioning

Chisel-type osteotomes are cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized between patients and inspected for a straight, undamaged edge before use; a mallet-driven edge that has rolled or chipped should be reconditioned rather than used. Our Dental Hand Instrument Reprocessing & Sterilization Guide covers the general workflow for Helmut Zepf instruments.
