Which Mega Coarse Diamond Do You Need?

Two DiaTwister figures carry the Mega Coarse grit, both on the HP (handpiece) shank. The number after the figure is the head diameter in tenths of a millimeter.

Laboratory Use

Mega Coarse DiaTwister diamonds are laboratory instruments for gross reduction of acrylic, resin, and model material — model making, orthodontic appliance adjustment, and initial plastics shaping — on a straight handpiece. Use the taper (DT4854R) for contouring and the cylinder (DT4880) for flat surfaces and bulk reduction, then finish with a standard coarse or finer grit from the ring-coded ladder.

Clinical Use

Mega Coarse DiaTwister diamonds are HP-shank laboratory instruments, so their place in the practice is in-office laboratory work: bulk reduction and adjustment of acrylic appliances, resin and models on the straight handpiece. For intraoral diamond preparation, choose an FG diamond from the Super Coarse or Coarse collections.

Care and Reconditioning

Diamond instruments are cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized between uses according to the manufacturer’s instructions; keep them in a bur block to protect the diamond coating and discard when the grit no longer cuts freely.
