Choosing a Grit

  • Super Coarse (black ring): Busch No. 5831 for fast bulk removal
  • Coarse (green ring): Busch No. 6831 for rapid reduction
  • Medium (standard): Busch No. 831 for everyday preparation
  • Fine (red ring): Busch No. 8831 for refining margins and surfaces

Sizes and Shanks

The three-digit size code is the head diameter in tenths of a millimeter (for example, 012 = 1.2 mm).

  • FG (friction grip, 1.6 mm shank for the high-speed handpiece)

See the Busch Bur Size Chart for full dimensions and the Dental Bur Speed Chart for maximum recommended speeds.
