KERA Ceramic Podiatry Burs

Busch KERA ceramic podiatry burs are cutters made from a tough technical ceramic instead of tungsten carbide. They stay cooler than metal and resist clogging with nail dust, so they keep a consistent cut through a full treatment.

KERA cutters come in the same shapes podiatrists know from carbide (football (egg), bud round, flame, cylinder round and taper (cone) round) with medium (X), coarse safety (GQSR) and fine (FX) cuts, all on the standard HP shank. Every Busch podiatry instrument is made in Engelskirchen, Germany, under ISO 13485 certification.

Clinical Use

Busch lists the coarse KERA cutters for thick gryphotic nails and rapid removal of orthotic silicone, the medium cut for outlining misshapen or fungal nails, and the fine cut for pre-treated nails and the cuticle.

Care and Reprocessing

Clean, disinfect and sterilize Busch podiatry burs after every patient following Busch's reprocessing instructions and the symbols on each pack; use a bur stand so cutting edges never touch. Never exceed the maximum speed printed on the pack, and run larger heads slower than small ones, especially when working dry. Our Bur Reprocessing & Sterilization Guide and Bur Speed Chart cover the workflow.

FAQ

What is the difference between KERA ceramic and carbide?

KERA ceramic runs cooler and resists clogging with nail dust, which makes it a good choice for patients who are sensitive to heat. Carbide remains the standard for fast bulk reduction.

Can KERA burs be sterilized?

Yes. Clean, disinfect and sterilize them like other Busch podiatry instruments, following Busch's reprocessing instructions.

Will KERA burs fit my podiatry drill?

Yes. They have the standard 2.35 mm HP straight-handpiece shank.
