Which Root Forceps Do You Need?

Pick the pattern by jaw — No. 45Sb for lower roots, No. 51Sb or 51A for upper roots, root-and-splinter forceps for fragments — then the beak finish: plain Xcision-Line, serrated edges, diamond coating or Onyx coating for added grip.

Clinical Use

Root forceps have narrow, closely meeting beaks that reach below the gingival margin to grip retained roots and root tips that a standard extraction forceps cannot hold; the Xcision-Line beak geometry, serrations and diamond or Onyx coatings are designed to improve purchase on short or slippery root surfaces, and the root-and-splinter forceps pick up small fragments and sequestra from the socket.
