Clinical Use
Mini Friedman rongeurs are end-cutting instruments for trimming small bony spicules, sharp alveolar edges, and fibrous tissue after extractions, during implant site preparation, periodontal surgery, and crown lengthening, leaving a smooth ridge for healing and denture stability. The 30° models suit anterior and premolar access; the 90° curved Mini-Fine (No. 23) reaches posterior sites; the Slim 1.5 mm version is for the tightest spaces around implants.
Care and Reconditioning
Rongeurs are cleaned with the joint open, disinfected, and sterilized between patients; keep the spring joint lightly lubricated with a steam-permeable instrument milk and return the instrument for resharpening when the beaks no longer cut cleanly. Our Dental Hand Instrument Reprocessing & Sterilization Guide covers the general workflow for Helmut Zepf instruments.
