Product Overview

This instrument is classified as a Cool Diamant diamond bur in a flame geometry with medium grit. The medium grit designation provides an optimal balance between efficient material removal and a smooth, controlled cutting action, making it suitable for both crown preparation and filling treatment procedures. As a cool diamant medium grit diamond dental bur, it is engineered to minimize heat generation during preparation, helping to protect pulpal tissue and preserve tooth structure.

Key Applications

  • Crown Preparation — Ideal for shaping and contouring tooth structure in preparation for fixed prosthetic restorations.
  • Filling Treatment — Effective for cavity refinement, margin finishing, and surface preparation prior to restorative placement.

Features & Benefits

  • Flame shape geometry for precise access and controlled cutting angles
  • Medium grit diamond coating for balanced cutting efficiency and surface finish
  • Cool Diamant technology designed to reduce frictional heat during use
  • Made in Germany — manufactured under strict quality control standards
  • FG (Friction Grip) shank for compatibility with standard high-speed handpieces
  • Supplied as a convenient pack of 6 burs

Independent Research: Test Winner at Innsbruck

In an independent laboratory study at the Medical University of Innsbruck, Busch’s COOL DIAMANT design achieved the highest cutting performance in both test series — outperforming same-shape, same-grit diamonds from up to ten competing manufacturers. Under standardized conditions (200,000 rpm turbine, constant 152 g load, 10–40 minutes of continuous cutting on 99.5% Al₂O₃ ceramic), the COOL DIAMANT instrument removed significantly more material than burs from Diatech, Edenta, Horico and Komet (p < 0.05), and in the second series the standard Busch diamond placed second only to its cooling-groove sibling. The authors concluded that instruments with cooling grooves deliver higher grinding performance and need replacing less often.

Line COOL DIAMANT (gold)

The flame shape follows interproximal and occlusal anatomy and refines contours and margins; the gold COOL DIAMANT head carries cooling grooves that keep heat down while cutting. At 1.2 mm the head is narrow, which favours anterior preparations and confined spaces. As a medium-grit instrument it carries the main part of the preparation once bulk reduction is done.
