Which Nabers Furcation Probe Do You Need?

Clinical Use of the Nabers Furcation Probe

• Detecting and grading furcation involvement on multi-rooted teeth.
• Technique: walk the probe around each tooth with light pressure (about 20 to 25 g), keeping the tip in contact with the root and the shank parallel to the long axis, and read the depth at the gingival margin.
• Reading: read the graduation against the gingival margin at each of the six sites per tooth and record the deepest reading per surface.
