Every Zepf instrument on this page carries the Helmut Zepf Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship for three years on the probe and six months on the furcation curette. And because an instrument can only be judged in the hand, you have 60 days to return it for any reason — even after you have used it. Clinical Use
- Detecting and grading furcation involvement on multi-rooted teeth.
- Technique: walk the probe around each tooth with light pressure (about 20 to 25 g), keeping the tip in contact with the root and the shank parallel to the long axis, and read the depth at the gingival margin.
- Reading: read the graduation against the gingival margin at each of the six sites per tooth and record the deepest reading per surface.
Sharpening, Retipping and Inserts
An instrument earns its keep only while it is sharp. Zepf instruments can be sharpened in the practice, sent to our sharpening and reconditioning service, or, on the interchangeable-insert versions, renewed in seconds by swapping the working ends. Are the inserts interchangeable?
