Busch podiatry burs for thickened and mycotic nails remove nail plate quickly and evenly, without the heat and chatter of a worn cutter. This collection brings together Busch cross-cut tungsten carbide cutters, from super coarse to medium, and Busch KERA ceramic cutters, all on the standard HP straight-handpiece shank that podiatry drills accept.

Choose the cut by how much nail you need to remove: super coarse (SGX) and coarse (GX) cross cuts for heavily thickened onychauxic nails, medium cuts (X, MQS) for controlled contouring of mycotic nails, and KERA ceramic when you want a cooler, clog-resistant cut. Every Busch podiatry instrument is made in Engelskirchen, Germany, under ISO 13485 certification.

Clinical Use
Use these cutters to reduce the thickness of onychauxic and onychogryphotic nails, to thin and contour mycotic nails before topical treatment, and to shape the free edge. Work with light pressure and keep the cutter moving across the nail plate; let the cut do the work. Larger heads (Ø 4.0–6.0 mm) remove bulk; the smaller MIDIS and SHORTIES give control near the nail folds.
Care and Reprocessing
Clean, disinfect and sterilize Busch podiatry burs after every patient following Busch's reprocessing instructions and the symbols on each pack; use a bur stand so cutting edges never touch. Never exceed the maximum speed printed on the pack, and run larger heads slower than small ones, especially when working dry. Our Bur Reprocessing & Sterilization Guide and Bur Speed Chart cover the workflow.

FAQ
Which cut should I use for very thick nails?
Start with a super coarse (SGX) or coarse (GX) cross-cut carbide for bulk reduction, then finish with a medium (X) or fine (FX) cut so the surface is smooth.
Will these burs fit my podiatry drill?
Yes. HP burs have the standard 2.35 mm straight-handpiece shank that podiatry handpieces take. FG burs (marked FG) are friction-grip instruments for podiatry units with a turbine and cooling water.
Why choose a KERA ceramic cutter?
KERA ceramic stays cooler than metal and resists clogging with nail dust, so it keeps cutting consistently through a full treatment.
Where are Busch podiatry burs made?
In Engelskirchen, Germany. Busch & Co., founded in 1905, makes every podiatry instrument there under ISO 13485 certification.
