Busch carbide podiatry burs, also called carbide nail drill bits, are tungsten carbide cutters for reducing and shaping nails. Busch makes them in cross cuts from super coarse (SGX) and coarse (GX, GQSR) for heavy reduction to medium (X, MQS) and fine (FX) for contouring and finishing.

Clinical Use

Busch's cut guide: very coarse double cut for strong removal of thickened nails, coarse double cut for coarse modeling, medium for treating and finishing fungal nails, and fine for delicate treatment of the nail surface before polishing. The safety cuts (GQSR, MQS) also grind hyperkeratosis and orthotic silicone.

Care and Reprocessing

Clean, disinfect and sterilize Busch podiatry burs after every patient following Busch's reprocessing instructions and the symbols on each pack; use a bur stand so cutting edges never touch. Never exceed the maximum speed printed on the pack, and run larger heads slower than small ones, especially when working dry. Will these burs fit my podiatry drill?

Yes. HP burs have the standard 2.35 mm straight-handpiece shank that podiatry handpieces take. FG burs (marked FG) are friction-grip instruments for podiatry units with a turbine and cooling water.
