Clinical Use of the UNC 15 Periodontal Probe

• Full-mouth periodontal charting where millimetre-precise pocket depths are recorded.
• Technique: walk the probe around each tooth with light pressure (about 20 to 25 g), keeping the tip in contact with the root and the shank parallel to the long axis, and read the depth at the gingival margin.
• Reading: read the graduation against the gingival margin at each of the six sites per tooth and record the deepest reading per surface.

Versions, Coatings and Handles

Titanium working ends are for use around implants, where steel would mark the implant surface. The ZEPF-bIONIK handle is Zepf’s ergonomic, colour-coded handle with a textured grip that reduces hand fatigue.
