Speed and Technique
Finishing burs work at reduced pressure: use the RA carbide version with water spray in the contra-angle and the HP steel version at laboratory speed in the straight handpiece, and let the blade count produce the surface; heavy pressure only dulls them. Maximum recommended speeds for every Busch shape are in our Dental Bur Speed Chart, and reprocessing steps in the Bur Sterilization Guide.

Clinical Use
-
Composite and amalgam finishing: smoothing occlusal and marginal areas after contouring without gouging.
-
Margin refinement: blending restoration margins into tooth structure.
-
Laboratory finishing: the steel HP versions smooth acrylic and remove tool marks in the straight handpiece.
At 1.8 mm the No. 7006 is a mid-size finishing head for occlusal and proximal surfaces.
Care and Reconditioning
Busch carbide and steel burs are reusable: clean, disinfect and sterilize them between patients following the manufacturer instructions and replace them once they dull. Our Dental Bur Reprocessing & Sterilization Guide gives the steps for Busch rotary instruments.
