Applications
The cool diamant coarse diamond dental bur is particularly suited to crown preparation, where efficient axial and occlusal reduction is essential. The coarse grit green ring designation ensures rapid stock removal, while the taper (cone) rounded edge geometry supports smooth preparation margins. This instrument is part of the trusted Cool-Diamant range, recognized for consistent cutting performance and durability across multiple uses.
The cool diamant coarse diamond dental bur is well-suited for the following clinical procedures:

Independent Research: Test Winner at Innsbruck
In an independent laboratory study at the Medical University of Innsbruck, Busch’s COOL DIAMANT design achieved the highest cutting performance in both test series — outperforming same-shape, same-grit diamonds from up to ten competing manufacturers. Under standardized conditions (200,000 rpm turbine, constant 152 g load, 10–40 minutes of continuous cutting on 99.5% Al₂O₃ ceramic), the COOL DIAMANT instrument removed significantly more material than burs from Diatech, Edenta, Horico and Komet (p < 0.05), and in the second series the standard Busch diamond placed second only to its cooling-groove sibling. The authors concluded that instruments with cooling grooves deliver higher grinding performance and need replacing less often.
