About the Cool-Diamant Series

The cool diamant coarse diamond dental bur belongs to Busch's renowned Cool-Diamant line, engineered in Germany for reliable clinical performance. The diamond abrasive surface ensures consistent cutting efficiency, reduced heat generation, and extended instrument longevity — all critical factors in everyday clinical use. The green ring color-coding provides instant grit identification, streamlining instrument selection chairside.

Clinical Application

This instrument is specifically suited for crown preparation, where efficient and controlled tooth reduction is essential. As a cool diamant coarse diamond dental bur, it supports initial gross reduction while the torpedo geometry facilitates shoulder and chamfer margin definition with precision.

Independent Research: Test Winner at Innsbruck

In an independent laboratory study at the Medical University of Innsbruck, Busch’s COOL DIAMANT design achieved the highest cutting performance in both test series — outperforming same-shape, same-grit diamonds from up to ten competing manufacturers. Under standardized conditions (200,000 rpm turbine, constant 152 g load, 10–40 minutes of continuous cutting on 99.5% Al₂O₃ ceramic), the COOL DIAMANT instrument removed significantly more material than burs from Diatech, Edenta, Horico and Komet (p < 0.05), and in the second series the standard Busch diamond placed second only to its cooling-groove sibling. The authors concluded that instruments with cooling grooves deliver higher grinding performance and need replacing less often.
