Product Overview

As a cool diamant fine diamond dental bur, this instrument is part of the Cool-Diamant series, which is recognized for its consistent diamond particle distribution and reliable cutting performance. The fine grit red ring coding follows the internationally accepted ISO color-coding standard, allowing clinicians to quickly identify the appropriate bur for their procedure. This torpedo-form bur is particularly well suited for crown preparation workflows where precision and a smooth surface finish are essential.

German engineering and manufacturing standards underpin the quality of this instrument. Made in Germany, each bur is produced under strict quality controls to ensure dimensional accuracy, diamond bond integrity, and consistent clinical performance across the pack.

Clinical Application

The cool diamant fine diamond dental bur is intended for crown preparation, providing the clinician with a reliable tool for finishing and refining preparations to achieve accurate margins and optimal surface texture. The torpedo geometry assists in controlled axial and occlusal reduction.

Independent Research: Test Winner at Innsbruck

In an independent laboratory study at the Medical University of Innsbruck, Busch’s COOL DIAMANT design achieved the highest cutting performance in both test series — outperforming same-shape, same-grit diamonds from up to ten competing manufacturers. Under standardized conditions (200,000 rpm turbine, constant 152 g load, 10–40 minutes of continuous cutting on 99.5% Al₂O₃ ceramic), the COOL DIAMANT instrument removed significantly more material than burs from Diatech, Edenta, Horico and Komet (p < 0.05), and in the second series the standard Busch diamond placed second only to its cooling-groove sibling. The authors concluded that instruments with cooling grooves deliver higher grinding performance and need replacing less often.
