Clinical Application

This fine diamond dental bur is specifically engineered for crown preparation procedures where precise material removal and a refined surface finish are critical. The torpedo geometry enables clinicians to define margins with high accuracy, minimizing the need for extensive finishing and polishing steps. The fine grit formulation — indicated by the standard red ring color coding — makes this fine diamond dental bur ideal for the final stages of preparation, delivering a smooth, consistent result on natural tooth structure as well as ceramic and composite restorations.

The Cool Diamant series by Busch & Co. GmbH is recognized for its reliable diamond coating quality and consistent cutting behavior, making it a trusted choice among dental professionals. Whether used in routine restorative procedures or more complex prosthetic workflows, this fine diamond dental bur supports efficient clinical outcomes with minimal tissue trauma and predictable performance.

Independent Research: Test Winner at Innsbruck

In an independent laboratory study at the Medical University of Innsbruck, Busch’s COOL DIAMANT design achieved the highest cutting performance in both test series — outperforming same-shape, same-grit diamonds from up to ten competing manufacturers. Under standardized conditions (200,000 rpm turbine, constant 152 g load, 10–40 minutes of continuous cutting on 99.5% Al₂O₃ ceramic), the COOL DIAMANT instrument removed significantly more material than burs from Diatech, Edenta, Horico and Komet (p < 0.05), and in the second series the standard Busch diamond placed second only to its cooling-groove sibling. The authors concluded that instruments with cooling grooves deliver higher grinding performance and need replacing less often.
