Key Features

As a dedicated fine grit diamond dental bur crown preparation solution, the Cool-Diamant series is manufactured to exacting German quality standards. The fine grit designation — indicated by the universally recognised red ring colour coding — ensures smooth, precise cuts with minimal tissue trauma, making it suitable for both routine and complex restorative procedures.

The torpedo geometry facilitates excellent access and angulation during crown margin definition, while the FG (Friction Grip) shank ensures compatibility with standard high-speed handpieces. Each pack contains two burs, providing clinical flexibility and backup in a single purchase. Whether refining axial walls or perfecting occlusal reduction, this fine grit diamond dental bur crown preparation instrument supports consistently high-quality outcomes.

Independent Research: Test Winner at Innsbruck

In an independent laboratory study at the Medical University of Innsbruck, Busch’s COOL DIAMANT design achieved the highest cutting performance in both test series — outperforming same-shape, same-grit diamonds from up to ten competing manufacturers. Under standardized conditions (200,000 rpm turbine, constant 152 g load, 10–40 minutes of continuous cutting on 99.5% Al₂O₃ ceramic), the COOL DIAMANT instrument removed significantly more material than burs from Diatech, Edenta, Horico and Komet (p < 0.05), and in the second series the standard Busch diamond placed second only to its cooling-groove sibling. The authors concluded that instruments with cooling grooves deliver higher grinding performance and need replacing less often.
