The M5 design: the first shank is about 3 mm longer than standard and the sharpened working end is shortened, with a 0.95 mm thin, flexible and therefore highly tactile first shaft — built for special subgingival curettage in tight, deep pockets (beyond 5 mm) and along narrow root surfaces. This Langer 4L insert carries a universal curette blade for maxillary posterior teeth, so one working end covers mesial and distal surfaces; the M5 shank is longer and thinner for deep, narrow pockets, finished with a very fine tip for narrow pockets. Its NANOPAL coating is a harder surface for a longer-lasting edge. Exchanging the insert renews the working end; the handle is retained.
