Cryer Elevator
The Cryer elevator is made for removing a remaining root from a molar socket after the other root has been extracted: the triangular tip is seated in the empty socket and rotated so the point engages the retained root and lifts it, using the interradicular bone as the fulcrum. Clinical Use
- Mirrored pairs: #27/#28 (standard), #21/#22 (mini, with a smaller working end) and #39/#40 (left and right on a thumb-rest handle), so the point always turns toward the retained root.
- Technique: the wheel-and-axle motion; the point works against the interseptal bone, never against an adjacent tooth.
Care and Reconditioning
Zepf surgical instruments are resharpened, re-aligned and reconditioned by our sharpening and reconditioning service when the working end dulls. Clean, disinfect and sterilize between patients.
