Dr. José Carlos Martins da Rosa earned his DDS degree from the Federal University of Santa Maria in Rio Grande do Sul in 1988. He completed postgraduate training in Periodontics at the São Paulo Association of Dental Surgeons (APCD) in 1991, followed by specialization in Prosthodontics at the Center for Dental Research São Leopoldo Mandic in Campinas, Brazil. He earned a Master of Science in Prosthodontics in 2005 and a PhD in Oral Implantology in 2013 from the same institution.

Based in Caxias do Sul, Brazil, Dr. José Carlos Martins da Rosa maintains a private practice focused on complex restorative procedures, periodontal therapy, and advanced surgical implant treatments. He is best known as the creator of the Immediate Dentoalveolar Restoration (IDR) technique — an innovative approach that enables extraction, implant placement, provisional restoration, and simultaneous reconstruction of bone and soft tissues in a single surgical session. This significantly reduces treatment time and patient morbidity compared to traditional protocols.

His IDR method has been published in scientific journals and described in his widely translated textbook Immediate Dentoalveolar Restoration: Immediately Loaded Implants in Compromised Sockets, available in Portuguese, Spanish, English, and Mandarin.
